Mari Hall 10K. There was a $100 cash prize for the winner of this one. I checked the list of preregistered runners the night before and didn't see anyone fast. Despite not running a step this week, I decided to race. I woke up with a terrible knot in my left calf, Jarrett style. That dream where my calf started cramping up was much more than just a dream. I jogged the 1.5 miles over to Norton School, still unsure of whether or not I'd race. I felt OK, and didn't see anyone legit so I decided to fork over the $35 entry fee and race the 10K. As soon as I walked out of the school with my bib in hand, I locked eyes with that pony-tailed bastard. WILL FUCKING SANDERS, the faggy road warrior who ruins ALL CT road races. I immediately regretted my decision to race, and wished I was still in bed.
Former Cheshire High legendary coach Ron McCreevey approached me at the starting line and said "You're my pick to win!" I told him "That's not your best pick...". The gun went off and Will Sanders took two other guys with him. One guy was wearing tights, basketball shorts, and no shirt so I knew he wasn't a threat. The other guy looked semi-legit, and may have been a friend of fuck-face. I passed the pretender after about a mile. The other guy started falling off of ass burger around 2 miles in. I was reeling in the second place runner at a quicker rate now. I pulled even with him at around 3.5 miles. I ran with him for a few steps and then decided to put in a good surge. He put up a pathetic fight and then started fading hard. That mile ended up being 5:34 with a decent hill towards the end. From there on out I more or less coasted to an easy 2nd place showing. Really pleased with my time, but super pissed that Will Sanders showed up. He cost me $100. Could have put that towards a couple quality rounds of golf...but hey, at least I have a job and am less autistic.
