COMMENTS: Warmed up by jogging and strides on hilly Raleigh downtown streets. Did this after making legs limber with the Stick. Legs felt really good. Settled into upper 1/4 of the pack but got really congested for first mile. Forgot to bring the Garmin so went with watch for splits. The pace seemed like training run pace. I wanted to do this race conservatively, for the first half since my daughter would be cheering at mile 4.5. It turned out there were no mile markers! I kept a moderate effort until I saw my daughter and then hit the accelerator for the last 1.7 miles. The final stretch was downhill so I did a 400m interval pace, blowing by lots of people to the finish. I had plenty of gas in the tank at the finish so could have done this faster. But, it's a good thing for the fast finish.... I finished in 49:58. Didn't even know I was racing to break 50!
361/934 OZ, 29/54 AG but broke 50 for third straight 10K so I was happy with where I am now and how the legs felt after.
