Training plan called for 10 x 400m at race pace with 2 minutes recovery between intervals. It was raining outside - I could have had the track to myself if I wanted to! - so I decided to run this one inside on the treadmill. Not the best case scenario, as I'm sure the purpose of this workout is to learn how to get into your race pace - but at least I can see if I can still hit this pace on tired legs towards the end of the workout. I decided to make my interval pace 7.8mph - a 7:42 mile which equates to a 23:56 5K (my goal is to break 25 min, but I may as well train to break 24 min just in case I have a stellar day, right?). After an 8 minute warmup, I alternated running 2 minutes at 7.8mph and 2 minutes at 5.8mph for my recoveries. When I got to the 10th interval, I still felt good, so I decided to push it an do 4 minutes (a little over half mile) at this pace.
