Notes

This was a bit of a redemption run. I underestimated the CNO canal trail. It is flat and I was able to go fast but what I forgot is how it wears on you. On my long run on Saturday night, I ran from Brunswick to Harpers ferry. The wind was blowing strong and at my back during the first half. Without knowing, I felt strong and fast. It had been so long since I had run on the CNO that I thought I was getting stronger. When I turned around to head back I realized my mistake. The wind was at my face. Maryland heights and weaverton both channel the wind through the gap and make it even stronger. This destroyed me. Looking back at the 100-mile race, this is exactly where I broke down. If it hadn't been for Don Riley pacing me I would have quit. This was a good reminder of that. Today I ran easy and smooth. My legs felt great. I need to remember to stay efficient and not get carried away.
