Notes
Paced this run like a little faster but pretty close to long run pace. Really I never really looked at the watch on the first half, saw I was averaging 8:20 and just aimed to keep it at that or a little faster. My legs felt flat and my knees were bothering me a little, not sure what that's all about. Nothing serious or anything, just noticed a little soreness in the knee and I didn't have any effortless pace.
Just before this run we hiked about a mile at Balls Bluff with the kids. It was a good time. Tony blasted out ahead of us for most of it. He fell once and I saw his joy switch to anger and frustration in a split second. Kids experience emotion so much stronger than we do. He was kicking at the roots saying how much he hated them and ended his little rant by throwing a stick into the woods. I just encouraged him to let out his frustration and once he did he got back to enjoying the trails. It's funny because when I fall on the trail I feel the same way but don't actually act out on it. Kids just have no filter which is probably healthier but not so much socially acceptable.
