This meet was not the way I wanted to end this season, but what a season it was. I really fell in love with the sport this season. I ran the races of my life: 16:00 (5k), 33:23 (10k), and 4:15 (1500). 2 things I need to work on are eating more consistently and running easier even when my mileage is low. That’s why I fell apart this week. My body couldn’t handle it anymore. I felt great running 6:20-6:40 pace on easy days. There is no reason for me to go faster than that on non-workout days unless I’m in a lot better shape. This season I was not a slave to my plan, I never stressed too much about racing (conference 10k possibly excluded), and I realized the only thing I can control in a race is my effort. It was awesome to have this season, and I can’t wait to try and get everything right next season. That begins with 4 weeks of not thinking about training. Tim says to do whatever you need to do to recover and be ready to get after good training come August-October. So, I’m gonna only jog or rest these next 4 weeks and get a little fat. I’ve never been very good at that. :)
