Notes

3k @ T w/ 1' R, 6-8 k's @ Fast w/ 90" R

Not my finest workout, but had a lot of heart in it. Made a very rookie mistake and didn't hydrate the night before or the morning of the workout, but I didn't let that try to get to me. Going over to the Arb felt fine. Group today was me, Frintner, Josh, William, and Somerfield. First half of 3k felt pretty easy, 6:10 pace, and then we sped up a bit to about 5:50 for the last half. Did the same thing two weeks ago of alternating loops for the k's. First few k's felt decent, had this pattern of going out near the front, failing to get into a good rhythm, get gapped by the front half, and then try to come back to it. I don't know why I keep doing this, but it's a very bad habit for me to do. After the 5th one, I didn't feel too confident that I would get past 6, but I would just worry about that after I finish it. Somerfield told me not to blow out but stay strong. Did just that and ended up finishing not too terribly and with confidence to run another one. At this point, I was falling off the group a lot and I was trying to get into my own rhythm at this point. Was about to call it quits on the 7th one, but the group, thankfully, convinced me to tough out another one. Even though fell off early and didn't exactly finish fast, I still managed to tough it out. Usually at this point in the season, I begin to lose confidence in myself because I panicked whenever I got out of breath with a few k's left, but I try to not let that psyche me out anymore and just trust that I can run as well as i think I can. Also, everyone else seemed to have done 8, so I would have looked bad if I dropped out at the 7th one. Splits weren't too bad either, only one split was 3:20, but otherwise all were faster.

Another note is that even after 3 years on this club, running on grass is still a significant challenge to me. I feel like out of my group, I'm the weakest when it comes to running well on grass and despite doing leg strength twice on a weekly basis, I still seem to struggle a lot with it. My legs give out way too early and I'm struggling to stay with everyone else. I'm not sure what is the best solution to that, but i think it's just a matter of grinding and toughing it out. Maybe I'm just so used to running on concrete that I don't train my legs enough for the grass. I'll probably look more into that later.

Chest felt fine as well, started to feel it around the last interval, but that made perfect sense given my effort level. I will still see a pulmonologist at Carle next Friday to make sure that my respiratory system is ok.
