Notes
Well..... this explains why I was so badly gassed at the end of my run. I didn't even realize I ran this frickin far. I actually arrived before 8, but I had to retrieve my watch from UGL. Once I got there, I had to suddenly use the bathroom, so there was absolutely no chance I would have been able to get back before they left. I took a wild guess and assumed they were going to Parkland. They did go in the direction that I did, just not the same route. They ended up running HHL, which I do not know. So, this ended up being a solo run in the rain, which is nice because after how sore I was from yesterday's workout, I could benefit from going on my own pace. Given my weakness of grass running, I tried to run on it as much as I could. This ended up draining my legs of any speed or power before I even left Parkland. Stayed on concrete afterwards. Once I got back to the Armory, I got a drink and then added on. Looped around the South Quad and by this point, I felt completely dead both physically and mentally and here from this point was a grind. Finished this run extremely hungry, which probably was why I had so much difficulty focusing in the end. Also, new longest run I've ever ran, even if it was broken into 3 parts. This is the last peak mileage I have for the season, and here on out, post-season time. Now is even more important that I put an increased amount of effort into recovering.
Overall, this week was a grindfest. Lot more mental effort than it was physical, but that is a good thing, for now. There are going to be spots in the next two races where I need to be more mentally strong than otherwise, so this week was good practice. My goals for Regionals and Nationals still stand, but I really want to just have a strong race at Regionals to give me the confidence to race well at Nationals.
