Notes
alpe d'huez duathlon.
way too hot, probably 95-100 degrees (4PM start...) and sunny at the bottom of the mountain. no shade anywhere for run/bike/transition/pre-race meeting, etc. at the start, 50% of the people have onesies with their name and country on them, that should have been a warning to me.
run started 5 minutes early for some reason, so my garmin isn't ready. i figure i want to be in the top 10 or so for the run. after 1 mile i was in about 80th place. When my garmin finally starts working, it notifies me that i've been running at a 5:10ish pace. i slow it down significantly, mostly because i feel like i'm dying already. get passed by some people and finish probably about 18 flat, but the split included my very slow t1, so i'm not exactly sure.
