Watch had 3.16 and 17:46. Website has me at 17:45 officially. Interesting story behind this one. Apparently I was the only guy in the entire field to run the correct course, including the little out and back up Stratford Road off of Winterbrooke. So, based on the fact that I talked to someone else after the race (who omitted the out&back) who had 3.00 miles on his Garmin, so I ran 0.16 miles farther (and about 50s more) than everyone else, and still ended up 5th overall. ** A little further analysis on GC seems to suggest that my extra distance was more like 0.22. I might actually dissect the FIT file ** At the finish I made the claim to a race official that I actually had won the overall because I was definitely the only guy among the leaders who took the out & back. I defense of my opponents, it was hard to spot. The little yard sign with the arrow was knocked down, and there was no one at the corner directing people to take the spur. I knew the course somewhat, so I was actually on the lookout for it and saw the arrows painted on the street (and the knocked over sign). I told the two guys that were with me (including Thielker) that this was the turn, but they went on past as the front runner had done. So, such is life. In a way I kinda wish I had stayed with those guys and fought with them for "second" and I probably would have had a better 3-mile time, but OTOH, I feel good in my soul that I ran the proper course which turned out to be at least 5000 meters -- the course they ran certainly was well short of that.
