Either Garmin was short today or the course was short. Maybe the 10 runs it shorter than my 610 would have done. The course is certified, and very recently, so maybe I can trust the course and the time is valid. Even so, the personal record is a little disappointing today when I really thought I should be able to run at least about a minute faster.

Felt very relaxed the first 3 miles really. Ran the first couple with Wyatt and then he fell off a little and I felt I needed to press on after I saw that we only managed the 6:09 second mile. Still, he did well and placed 4th OA in the 5k and 1st AG. I was kinda bummed about how the race shaped up, especially that stupid 12th mile, which was slightly uphill, into the wind, and into the oncoming onslaught of runners on the "out". I guess it just wasn't there today like I thought it should be. Hate hate hate that course on the stupid little trail, especially with the two way traffic on the out & back sections. Very very hard to get into and stay in a rhythm, not to mention those stupid little clover leaf ramps at a couple of the bridges. I'll have to think long and hard about what this means for the marathon in 3 weeks. Jeff is of the opinion to lower expectations a bit. Maybe that's right. But maybe if I can just get to feeling sharp again here in the next couple of weeks and benefit from a good taper, and hopefully get fully healthy, I hope I can maybe run much better in Dallas.
