Notes
I'll get around to writing a race report this week, but I'm in Nepal right now and haven't done that yet. Overall I was very consistent the first 60k, then slowed down a bit and then the wheels came off. I will blame: 15% the weather, something like 24F at the start with a slight wind; 20% dehydration, once I took a cup of water at the 6k aid station and there was a layer of ice on top, it was hard to drink; 10% the hills, it's not a flat course; 55% training, my last five months have been 186, 159, 170, 244 and 304 miles, which is good, and I started and finished healthy, but it's not the kind of base that runs a 6:56 100k. I dropped out at 80k because the goal was a qualifying time for 100k world championships, and when I realized I wasn't even going to do 7:30, the thought of running my legs into the ground even more as Everest approaches didn't seem wise. Know when to hold them and when to fold them, as they say.
