actually saucony velocity distance 2 spike. the track at cu is 200 meters but only three lanes wide. it was such a tiny meet. i mean it was like d1 b team like holy cross not even the good runners so it was really chill. people weren't really getting into cheering that much even though the races and jumps and throws were pretty good. any way here are the splits. 35.4, 35.8, 37.3, 38.4, 38.4 (3:05 at 1k), 39.9, 38.0, 39.4 (5:02.5 at 1600), 40.0, 41.6, (3:19 2nd k), 42.9, 44.1, 45.4, 45.1, 42.7 (3rd k in 3:40 last 1600 in 5:41). well seeded myself at 9:07 cause I thought that I'm in shape to pr at sea level but altitude will slow me down some. well we got out a little fast 71 then hit 2:26 and 3:05 and I thought 9:15 is good. 1200 in 3:43 and then my legs got heavy. then mile in 5:02 and I lost it soon after that. I had been drafting in second then I fell back. my legs went anaerobic about 6-7 laps in and i mean i was just pushing and that was all there is. that being said my schedule had a 3k time trial at 3/4 effort so I can't say that I gave it everything although ethan and laura will verify that I was coughing and spitting and pretty wasted afterward. the goal was run a hard anaerobic effort and I did just that. the fact that I backed off to 6:05 pace when I hit the wall is scary because I ended my half marathon at 5:40 pace ten weeks ago and I thought that even altitude adjusted I would not slow down beyond that kind of pace. so moral of the story is I am not acclimated yet, and I do not have the anaerobic development in my legs. that being said I am still very disappointed that my dying pace was over 6. I thought my aerobic engine was better than that. oh well it is what it is. oh it was free too. that was kind of surprising. and i think i saw mark wetmore and jenny barringer there. I was super nervous before because it was a d1 meet but after running it I'm a little dissapointed that no one lapped me. these kids are that impossibly far beyond me.
