Bermuda 10K

Notes

Day 2 of the Triangle Challenge.

Justin told me that he was going to go out conservatively and run a 41 min 10K. I figure that this was going to be my best chance to make up any significant time on him, since I knew he was at least 5 minutes faster than me in the marathon.

My goal was to hit 38 minutes on a supposedly tough 10k course. My 10k PR is 36 at James Joyce where I managed to edge out Justin by a mere 6 seconds.

Humidity was in the 70% range thanks in large part to the torrential downpour the evening before during the mile race.

I took it out easy on the fast start and took advantage of the downhills only to give it back on the monster uphills, especially over the last mile.

I managed to catch one of the lead females over the final half mile and was only 10 seconds away from placing in my age group for the overall 10K race.

Justin finished the 10K in 42 minutes, giving me about a 3:30 lead going into the challenge on Sunday.

Right hamstring tear acted up and felt tight during the cool down. Well, this sucks.
