Notes

Nothing like a good ass kicking on a tough marathon course to humble you. Goal was to win the Full Triangle Challenge. Was ahead at the 9 mile mark of the final race of the Challenge when one of Reno's finest students pulled up along side me and wished me luck. That was the last time I saw the eventual Challenge winner, Justin Renz, on the marathon course. Right hammy was bothering me all day, but was able to block out the pain for about 21 miles. Head winds through the middle stretches of each loop sucked my energy dry and I actually hit the wall around 21. It's been awhile since this has happened, so I'm intrigued to find out what went wrong. Going through the run in my mind for future reference. This will only fuel to become a stronger runner. I love this sport.

Course itself was pretty brutual with one hill after another, and after the second loop, every hill was ginormous. Felt great going through the half even though I was about 1 minute behind schedule. Just couldn't hold it together for the entire 26.2. One of my uglier marathon runs, but I did manage to qualify for Boston under the old standards! I'll take any victory after this performance.

The Challenge itself is no walk in the theme park. There are serious racers out here competing. Didn't see anyone stop to take pics with cartoon characters.

Managed to limp away with some prize money for placing first in my AG (20-39), which was a nice surpise. Lesson here is to never give up during a race!

So many stories from this weekend including El Presidente vs. Ronnie The Legend Wong, Honey Badger Loose on Bermuda, and The GLRR Girls Go Commando. Stay tuned for new Angry Chicken Bermuda Edition blog entry soon!

GLRR cleans up at Bermuda Triangle Challenge. Congrats to Lauren Liuzzo for winning the Triangle Challenge for the ladies!; Glenn Stewart for placing 2nd in AG in the marathon; Erica L Zornig for placing 3rd in AG in the half-marathon; Fil... Faria for placing 2nd in AG in the marathon; myself for 1st in AG in the marathon. Also congrats to Linda McCarthy; Cullen P. Madden; Amanda Benoit, and Nathan Hedberg for completing their respective challenges! This was truly a tough course under tough conditions. Racing for three straight days is no joke! http://areep.com/events/bermuda/results/2012_results.php
