Poultry Predictor with Mike, Gadz, Jackie, Hearne and Jimmy. Pretty fun race. It was very cold on the warmup, so I ran in tights and under armour under my kicking it with g phi tank. Jackie, Jimmy and I started a decent bit from the start behind some moms. Hearne was near the front and everyone else was behind us. When the race started it was a madhouse and narrowed very quickly. I ended up having to hurdle some stuff instead of bowling over some other moms. After about a quarter mile, I was probably around 20th place with Jimmy next to me. Hearne was about 20 meters up on me. Over the course of the next two miles, I passed 6 or 7 people but Hearne extended his lead. When we finally entered the big loop to start the trek towards home, I passed a couple other people and Hearne's lead narrowed. I passed him with about a mile to go and thought he would go with me, but alas, he did not. I really expanded a lead on him as I was trying to catch the group in front of us. They were way up on me at the mile (probably 150 meters or so). Up until this point I had been running about threshold effort. With about 1200 to go I tried picking up the pace. I was able to really narrow the gap, but I did not know the markings or anything so ended up about 10-15 meters behind that group of two (which included a girl... sigh (sidenote she had been a varsity runner the last 5 years and is on a club out in Michigan)).
Outside of that, pretty happy with today. This is how I wish I could always run cross-country races (but faster...). Hearne fell off like 20 seconds and we were a little over a minute up on Jackie. Jimmy came in around 26:40 and Mike and Gadz were right behind him. Got two eggs after that.
