Notes
Much tougher than expected. I was initially planning 6-8x1k but after the first two, I knew that was not happening. Ran on the indoor track at Lincoln-Way (9 laps a mile). The turns were so tight and there were obstacles everywhere, so I felt like I was changing gears and running uneven which was expending a lot of energy. Saying that, I thought I was more prepared to handle a 1k workout at this juncture in my training. This was my first real foray into adding some speed into training and it felt like it. When I switched to 600s, I thought I'd have an easier time hitting that pace and running quicker, but that was not really the case.
Anyways, I think I can learn some things from this workout and also need to put it in perspective that I'm still 2 months out from peak race. There is plenty of time to work on getting into shape. Just gotta keep doing the work, start adding the side things (strength that I should have already been working on) and I'll be ok. I am in really good aerobic shape for myself as that steady state shows. Speed will come.
