Notes

After yesterday’s setback, I decided to push the 5k to next week on the 4th (which I was going to do anyways). I still wanted a PR effort because I had gotten myself up for one so set my sights on the 10k instead because I know my race PR is pretty soft (6:09/mile). Also, after tailoring my Friday night to running a fast time Saturday and that falling through, I decided to relax, not eat particularly well, and just be lazy after my back spasm. I wanted to show myself again that at this point I’m either going to run fast or not, immediate prep be damned.

Anyways, it was pretty muggy this morning. Dew point close to 70 which Google claims is oppressive. I’m not sure about that but I was soaked on the warmup even though the sun had stayed behind the clouds.

Started out pretty quick and decided to not look at my watch til halfway. First lap went by quick even though the sun came out during mile two and by the time I came back down Lincoln the second time, I was fatiguing. Calf was in and out but i think that was mainly my mental state. I had a mini panic around 3.5 but held it together, chanced a look at my watch at 4 (5:44), which allowed me to relax. I thought after the first lap that I had held on to a second gear but i couldn’t quite reach it today, but that’s ok considering yesterday. Think I might try this again at the end of the month and go for under 35.

All in all, this was a good effort and I think this will help me going forward.
