First leg of GLR. Ran against Rachel. Caught her in about a mile and a half. Ended up getting confused about where I was going 3 or 4 times at which point I'd stop and look around for like 30 seconds. This was really difficult tho. I ran at about 1:30 and it was very hot and sunny. I ran in my hat. I passed Rachel where it opened up and it was so sandy and hot and every condition that I struggle in. On top of that, the ferns were out of control. There wasn't really anywhere where they weren't up to you waist and running through that made it so hard to try to pick up speed at all. Day 1 was rough on everybody. We didn't finish until 8 PM and had to run concurrently. Not a fan of this trail.
