Pilcher Park Poultry Predictor. Predicted my time to be around 22:40 and I was woefully mistaken. The thing is, I didn't feel like I ran that bad today. At the beginning of the race, it was just me and Lincoln-Way Central's coach. It felt like we were going pretty hard, so I backed off and let him do his thing because I wanted to be strong at the end. There were some lincoln way kids behind me a ways, but for the most part it was just me by myself. Some kid from Joliet hopped in the race for like one mile and caught me and passed me but was working pretty hard and then he dropped out - it was very confusing and annoying. Anyways, I ran in no man's land. Felt like I was working pretty good, but contained. Normally I have a pretty good sense of pace and I really thought I was ahead of pace - I thought I was going at the very least like 5:45 pace or faster, but I guess the combination of the wind, the hills in the last two miles and a lot of mud and weaving around people contributed to a slower than expected time.
That's alright though - its still a 4 mile PR. I am happier with this race than two weeks ago - I wish I would have pushed harder though at the beginning in hindsight because the winner ran 22:40.
