Nice run. Fell off training last week and yesterday (Monday) it rained. So, a good run...until I get back to the Vandenberg gate. I show my retired ID and I'm told my ID card has been terminated. What?? I'm soaked with sweat, it's just plain cold because of the wind chill and I'm standing outside the guard shack waiting for the keystone cops to get their act togethor. I finally tell them I'm cold, they invite me inside the shack. Then they ask for another form of ID....are you crazy? I'm in running gear....and over the pst 30 years, all you've ever needed to get on base is your ID. They destroyed the end of my run and they told me that this was due to "all new" procedures effective today. really? Becasue yesterday when I went through the gate, my retired ID worked (A big part of my frustration). I got the flight chief's name TSgt Curtis. I got the standard, they were just following procedures becasue your ID came up terminated. Really...the ID worked yesterday. So I asked for the name of the commander and he refused (not professional). He told me that I had to follow chain of command, to whcih I told him that I was a civilian and that I did NOT have to follow his chain of command. So, I played the game. I called his boss SMSgt Barden--this is a very angry/unprofessional NCO and Law Enforcement Superintendant. Long story short he had no idea why technology works sometimes and not other, that the cops were "following" orders and to basically sit down, shut up and suck it up. I really didn't like that answer. So he went on and on about how this is a DoD initiative and it's set up to catch felons and people with active warrants and they do that by a scanner reading called "TERMINATED." So, I'm in this class of jailbird.....OMG he lost it. He went off on me telling me that I was trying to cause trouble (I guess I had nothing else better to do today). I asked for his commander and his tone went straight to trying to intimidate me (sorry bozo, that doesn't work with me). He went off that it wouldn't do me any good because the commander was going to tell me the same exact thing he did. I had to ask four times who his commander was, before he would tell me. He was obviously trying to hide these problems from the commander...and/or who knows what other f'ups were done...that he didn't want the commander to know about. If he wasn't going to help me out and give me the name, I would have taken different actions (IG/Base Commander/US Senator from...), but he finally told me it was Major Morales.

I called Major Morales and they immediatley hung up on me. I assumed that SMSgt Bozo went straight to the Commander and he had the staff cut me off to by him some time. I had to call back a second time. I did talk to Maj Morales...and while I didn't tell him that his SMSgt Supertindent was unprofessional and is a "hot head" (I'll be nice)--and I didn't say this because I didn't want to cloud the current issue. The Maj was decent )all that I needed) and had about the exact opposite attitude of his Superintendent....Thank God!
