Notes

Interesting run. While it was 35 degrees, it was icy and the ground frozen. Despite running for a couple of years here in MA, I don't ever remember running into a frozen over forest (i.e., the Merriam's run). Yes, a couple of years ago, Ben Scott and I ran out the Vandenberg gate (Reverse Fiske Hill Run) at 7 degrees (first mile was a bitch...and we all wondered why we were running in this much cold); however I don't remember the ground being total white and frozen. There were place where my shoes left no print in the snow....but, for most of the run you could hear the crunch of every step....and on the blacktop, ice was kind of scary....as the are no sidewalks, etc--on the last run down hill on the way home. The run seemed to stress my left knees and my hips; however, a couple hours later I feel fine. This was a pretty or fast run (and yes Ben, I meant to time it), but it was a very enjoyable run. Oh the days of Jimmy Mac, Scott, Ben and others in out little running club--would have loved to have had that today!
