Sat around for a long time before the race, getting there at 7:40. Got stuck in the crowd for the first mile and had a bit of trouble getting out of it for most of the hilly part of the course.
Splits were
Mile 1 - 7:25 (too crowded to get through)
Mile 2 - 7:06
Mile 3 - 7:06
Mile 4 - 6:55 (opened up on surf drive)
Mile 5 - 6:56
Mile 6.2 - 8:36 (missed the 6 mile mark but hit watch at 10K mark, slowed down a bit on this section, not sure why - maybe the heat)
Mile 7.1 - 5:20 (had a sub-6 pace for this last .9 miles, though paying for it today because quads are still a bit shot)
Final time 49:24
Still slower than I think I was a year and a half ago but not bad either. 505 out of about 12,800 runners.
