Notes

Yeah not too thrilled about this one. I do not know what it is but my biggest struggle this year is not being able to finish or respond to moves being made. I know I have that finish in me, I just for some reason do not have when I race this year. I am going to get my iron check, and more importantly during this break I am going to work on my physical and mental strength. Like Chapman has said this break is the best time to work on your weakness. Also, I hope when I come back, I could give Frosty a run for his money in piece of meat because of how ripped I am going to be. Even though I am not happy, I cannot be mad about anything because no one has a better team than this one, and not most teams did not get a chance to do what we did all year. I am excited for indoors to kick ass and can’t wait to become a national champ in the mile but I am also excited to see my team have another killer season. The ladies are one of the best teams in the country and it is a blessing to have a team like you around. You are all fun to be with and you bring the best out of us, so thank you and cannot wait to see y’all have a killer season. I am excited to continue to see all the Freshman grow into their roles and see them develop through this journey. They are so much fun, and I am very thankful for a class that I can joke around and have fun with, while watching them work hard and be determined to do something great. You guys are so much like our class and I cannot wait for you guys step into those leadership roles, because you guys are amazing and will win a title. I’m excited to see what the sophomores do during indoor because from my view you guys are so close to finding that race where you realize you are the man and much better than what you have ever thought of. The juniors, boy oh boy it has been amazing watching all of you grow into amazing runners but even better people. All of you are starting to become amazing leaders and that has been doped to see. Seniors we know what we are, and I cannot wait to win a national title with all you guys. We have been talking about this since Freshman year, I think the only thing that could stop us now is COVID, and even then like we did in cross we keep our head up and we still kill this track season because even though races might be gone that does not mean we stop showing our incredible fitness. To wrap this up yes I am not happy about my past couple races but the amazing thing it is really hard to keep your head down because there is so many amazing things going on around this team and I don’t want to miss a second of what is going around me.

p.s Caleb it was awesome having you there and getting a chance to talk and have fun with you. Thank you for the advice and words of encouragement after the race. Hey if you ever want to come back to Wartburg, just know I will welcome you with open arms. … friend?

Thanks Heinzman. I supposed I am forced to land on "friend" being the correct word for now...I may just have to take you back up on that offer again sometime, and maybe bring a few with me if conditions allow for it! Keep up the good work, believe in yourself more than seems rationale, because you have ability beyond what you may see all the time. Patience and belief!

ps: depending on how much work you put in over break, we might have to do a revote on piece of meat, who knows?

Spoken like a true leader. And from someone who themselves was one of those freshman who bought in, a sophomore who had that race where he found out he was THE man, and a junior who grew into an amazing runner and started to step into a leadership role. Now it is time to be that senior who knows who he his. And he is Matthew Heinz man. A dangerous competitor and an unbelievably loyal teammate. Love ya man, enjoy break! Can't wait to see that piece of meat!
