Notes

After a slow 2:07 transition I was rested enough to ride hard. Goal was to put it all out on the bike and suffer the run since it was only two miles.

Started badly making the dumb mistake of leaving my bike in a big gear so I dropped my chain not once but twice at the up hill start. This cost me a handful of seconds. Got going and struggled to find a good rhythm and never felt fluid and fast. Took the turns conservatively and got cut off by a minivan that pulled over on to the shoulder in front of me on what should have been a long fast downhill straight. This cost me more seconds and rhythm as I had to take the time to slow down and avoid then scream at the driver. Didn't have many rabbits to catch so was mostly on my own. By the looks of my speed/elevation data I could have powered up and down the last hill a little harder. Can't remember if I faded, slowed when I passed another rider, or was easing off because of the run? Probably all of the above. Didn't' stop the Garmin until after I parked the bike and it had me faster and distance a little longer. Really think I broke 27 minutes for the actual bike which would have had my avg over 21. Despite it all I still had the fastest bike split. Was hoping for at least 22mph avg but the bad start and heat, etc... Next time.

Dismounted with a 1:17 transition to the run. Took the time to have some water, change, and tie my shoes. Other than not drinking I'm not sure what would have improved this transition. I was probably just moving slowly.

Lessons Learned: When parking the bike in transition put it in the gear you want to start in. Need more bike mileage to help with bad rhythm. Should have drank more fluid.
