Planned workout was 4x 1200m @ Interval-Pace; with 3:30 easy jog recoveries. Goal 4:07 (5:30/mile) per 1200m.
Warmed up 3.5 miles and 6x strides to loosen up.
1200m splits: 3:58, 4:02, 4:01, 4:01 (Average 5:23 pace)
Wow. I'm pretty sure I pressed too hard on this workout but when I crossed the first 400m in 1:17, I just went with it. I won't say the third lap of each 1200m came easy but I was consistently hitting 79-81 per lap. Good stuff. I'm fairly sure the transition from running last week's workouts on dirt to this week on the track made a difference. Wearing flats had to help, too.
Confidence is up to take down the 5k PR on Saturday.
