Once I got warmed up, the first few miles felt great. My body can definitely handle 3 miles easily these days. The 4th mile was okay, the 5th was a struggle, especially the last .75. But I think that is the point of the long run. To push the body past what it is use to. My lungs felt fine the whole time. I was going slow enough that my heart and lungs could have kept going. My legs on the other hand...need to keep gradually growing stronger. Mid run I could feel how each long run would add a little strength and energy. Until you get to the marathon distance. Crazy!!
