Very pleased!
Coming up to the race I was confident of a PB but then the weather forecast was for 23C sunshine so i only gave myself a 50% chance when on the start line. Ran with Jamie but left him behind immediately as i set off at a (too) fast pace. A big PB at 5km but from then on it was a struggle. From 5 to 9km I was using all my mental strength to avoid walking. I knew a PB was on but the watch started running long after 6km so I wasn't sure how close. The last km I gave it all and crossed the line in 46:36 (official time is two seconds slower). Beat Jamie by 80 seconds too!
1st 5km: 22:30
2nd 5km: 24:08

7.7km: 36:18 (4:41 pace)
