Notes
That was a very pleasing run! A 9th Midnattsloppet and a PB.
I had a goal of sub45 as I didn't think I was in much better shape than that. Training recently in August has been very stop start so not good on the front, but a decent run a Ursvik on Thursday gave me some confidence.
I hoped to take a more even race as previously I have ra the first 2km far too fast here and I succeeded in that. My watch was beeping earlier than the markers and I grew concerned approaching Sofia Kyrka that my lead of circa 10 seconds would not be enough. I powered up the hill and it felt much easier than it ever has before.
At halfway I was 4 seconds up on 45pace but with Mossebacke to come I knew that I had to push harder. And that worked a treat! A succession of Strava PRs followed but the watch went out of sync with the km markers at 7km so I was not sure during the race.
I also powered up Mossebacke and it felt nowhere near as hard as before and it was also a PR. Then the finish was suddenly in view and I sprinted as hard as I could as I could see that I would definitely go under 45 and easily too.
44:13 is the official time.
