VO2 Max Interval
Goal: 1000m, 3 x 1 mi, 1000m @5k pace (6:30 pace)
Actual: 1000m, 3 x 1 mi, 1000m @6:28 pace
Concerned how I would feel given long run yesterday (usually I like to take a day off b4 a set like this). Ran the first 1000m with trainers. Switched into the Blade Lights and 6:31 pace markedly easier (6:27 pace a tad fast). My AHR shows what I felt as the second mile felt tougher. Then switched into the Newton Racers but put my orthotics in them to give them more cushion (this did the trick as my right foot felt ok). W/the lighter Newtons on, the 3rd mile and final 1000m felt easier. Ran the last .1 of mile on the 3rd mile at 6:00 pace (did not feel overly fast). On the final 1000m, ran the last 200m at 5:46 pace (this felt good/hard w/the Newtons but under control). A month ago I went 1k, 4 x .75 mile, 1k at 6:39/ 6:37/ :637/ 6:36/ 6:35/ 6:27 so today's run shows both fitness gains over the past 5 wk training cycle (went further and 9 seconds faster!).

Overall: 6:28 pace
rest was about 4:30 in between
