VO2 Max Set
3 x 1/2 mi (8:39 pace/mi; 8:24 pace/mi; 8:18 pace/mi) + 2 x 300m hard (7:36 pace/mi; 7:15 pace/mi).
First time running a workout in 3 months & first time running in these New Balance Super Comp Trainers v2 (that are very cushioned, light & w/a full carbon plate). It took a while for me to get my form & rhythm correct running in these shoes & that combined w/not running a workout for 3 mo made for awkward running. On #1 I felt extremely awkward & could not get into any rhythm running in these shoes as I felt like I was plodding along & the pace was embarrassing. I was focused on increasing my cadence in running this. On #2 things continued to feel awkward for the first 1/4 mile but I then made an adjustment in my form in terms of not trying to increase my cadence but stride length & very quickly things felt much more easier (as I was running in synch w/the carbon plate) & felt more stronger. On #3 continued what I did over the last 1/4 mi of #2 and felt stronger. Then decided to run 2 x 300m and again the more I ran in these shoes the more tiny adjustments I was making to reap the benefits & felt stronger. Still - my pace was abysmal.
