(no so) Easy Run

Yesterday I fast walked 3.5 mi where the first mile was really slow and legs felt sluggish (thereafter was on par) but felt some residual tightness in hamstring on discomfort/swelling in right forefoot pad. Today had no clue what to expect - fast walked 1 mi to warmup & did drills (less hamstring discomfort). Then I started out and for the first time did not feel that "bone breaking" pain in right leg -- hobbled a little (not a lot), pain was not excruciating (5 out of 10), and the pain was more concentrated (vs. widely dissipated). The pain subsided after abt 100-150 yds but then felt tightness along right outside glute/hip for the next 1/2 mi. And then realized that every step was "an effort" (nothing easy). After mile 1 was trying to focus all efforts on going at least 3 miles - was really sweating, could not relax as each step was an effort, and felt the tightness in my right hamstring which felt like a charley horse (could feel it on every push off, & worse up a hill). Ran down to Earth Fare, some laps around the parking lot, then down Colony (mile 2) and over to Rexford and down and behind building at end and then back up -- my goal was to make it up the hill as I was really hurting and then took a right to Morrison and when mile 3 clicked had to stop (was sweating, felt dead and again every step was an effort which is a feeling I hate). Did some drills & then resumed, up Morrison, right on Sharon (at 3.5 mi I felt dead), did a lap in the mall parking lot & came up & mile 4 clicked and again had to stop (I felt like death warmed over and each and every step was a struggle). Continued on to 4.5 miles. Can't believe how terrible shape I am in and how each and every run has now become a struggle.
