Long Run

Drove out to Long Island & hit bad traffic -in car 90 min (and right hamstring felt tight, painful & "dead"). Fast walked & did drills. Started fr Mid-Island JCC in Plainview & plan was to run to Bethpage Trail & into park. Ran fr JCC to Old Country Rd to entrance of trail (hamstring felt "stiff", all into very stiff 15mph headwind). Ran down first segment of trail & then hung left on Cedar Swamp & rather than loop back 1/2 mi down decided to keep running down hill & then up (mi 2 - all into headwind), ran up to Round Swamp road & hung right (never been on this road) & ran east (mi 3 - tail wind, gradual steady incline), continued on Round Swamp & got concerned I was getting lost & then swung around almost 180 degrees on a new road (mi 4 - gradual decline & tailwind contributed to pick up in pace but I felt like was burning up as it felt hot), realized I was on Old Country Road so continued & got to trail entrance again & headed down to Cedar Swamp crossing (mi 5 - all into headwind), kept on trail on next segment to road crossing but rather than continue did a 180 & ran back on a single track windy dirt trail parallel in the woods (mi 6), ran 1/2 back & then out again on the paved trail at road crossing jumped back on the dirt trail to the end (mi 7 - pace would slow significantly on dirt trail as this was windy, narrow at times & sometimes had to duck), ran back down paved trail 1/4 mi & then back on dirt trail to end & then crossed street & on a new section of dirt trail that was even more windy & narrow which slowed me down further (mi 8), then ran back & ran on a another trail that was even more windy (w/switchbacks) & extremely narrow to Old Country Rd (mi 9), then back on road on Old Country Rd back to JCC.
