Easy Run

48 degrees. Did 3x drills (16x running butt kicks + 7x high knees) prior to test to see how these felt -- not pain w/the butt kicks and was very conservative on the high knees (no pain). Started out running (vs. walk/jog) and felt "stable" but the pain in the upper Psoas (inside of hip) was severe -- and I started choking on a treat I had consumed prior to the run and pain was excruciating when I coughed (I could feel the muscle in that area contract and had to stop to cough as the pain bowled me over). After two episodes of this, I resumed and surprised that the pain subsided to a duller and even duller ache and this was the best outcome as when the pain subsides it means that things are healing (but nobody would ever want to go thru the pain over those first two minutes to get there!). I felt "more coordinated" vs. yesterday, more "stable" vs. yesterday and at times I could get into a rhythm where I could actually focus on cadence. This felt like yesterday's pace (9 min) but this is what generally happens when I come back fr "injury exile" where each day my pace improves and in this case over 20 sec per mile). I did feel best in mile 2. In mile 4 I did not feel "fatigued" but more of that "hitting the wall" feeling. I figure in a week or so I'll feel more comfortable.
