Long Run

74 degrees, low humidity. SPk to Providence to Cherokee to Cresent, back along Providence to Selwyn to Colony. First real long-run since last Jan & post-injury. Couldn't sleep last nite as it felt like I had "growing pains" in both legs after first workout post-injury (almost like my legs were undergoing a metamorphosis). Felt absolutely horrible (either due to workout fr last nite or doing leg lifting prior including 3x dead lifts or both) and knew this was going to be a grinder. The first 4 miles it felt like I was going 8:45/9:00 pace. Hit first of the rolling hills on Cherokee and felt like an effort. After that the I seemed to feel better going up hills. Focused on keeping a short stride and quick cadence. Slowed in mile 7 as I was focused on running along the thin strip in the grass along Selwyn. Then focused on keeping form up the two hills on Colony. Amazing how 4 months ago it was a "cinch" to go 11 and I would feel recovered the following day.
