Easy Run (that became a tempo run :-(

67 degrees. Very warm, shirtless & covered in sweat. CLT Runners Tue nite Booty Loop run (35 runners). Got there about minute or two after the group took off. Started out at a steady pace (fiddling w/watch to get the GPS back on) and began to run up on back of the group at the Hospital. As I headed up to Queens passed about 15 people, then one up Queens, and then at the top of Queens to Selwyn, ran through about 10 more runners getting to the two mile mark (which at 7:23 was way too fast -- this is equivalent to about a 7:05 given the hill over the first half of that mile). Picked off another 5 runners along Selwyn and began trying to throttle pace down. On Queens caught up to Ross and two other runners at the 3 mile mark. Got behind Ross as we ran up the hill on Queens (he pushes ahead) and then he slows things down on the way down and I do the same. I get about 10 yards ahead of him because of how we crossed Kings, and then right after the 4 mile mark (where I see 7:28 split and try to slow even further), he races ahead as I yelled at him for running erratically (his plan was to run hard the last mile), and I focused on slowing down as this effort was way too fast. At times I felt like I was slogging thru this (and could feel some fatigue). As I get near the end one of the runners I passed comes sprinting by me. Extremely hot out compared to prior runs and sweating profusely (along w/everyone else).
