Easy Run

34 degrees, snow, howling wind. CLT Runners Tue nite run (xx runners as I got there extremely late, bad driving conditions). Postponed planned tempo run to Wed nite and good thing I did. It was raining wet snow (heavily), the winds were howling (20-25 mph gusts), many of the curbs were flooded and hidden under leaves where I either had to stop or tack around, and during mile 3 on Queens the sidewalk started to get slippery (& a mile later the snow/rain had passed thru). In addition to my right Psoas/abdominal tear, I have issues w/left calf (very tight). Freezing (wind chill sub 30) as I ran in windbreaker + long sleeve + tank & used a pair of wool socks as gloves. Started out and did not feel any pain in right Psoas/abdominal area because I was distracted by cold, rain, adjusting headlamp, getting hands warm. Kept it slow and at the crossing of Kings after the hospital, stopped to remove the sleeves of my windbreaker (it was getting warm plus it was so windy that the wind kept blowing my windbreaker off kilter). I was so late that I could see the faster runners headlamps in the distance coming down Kings at the 4+ mile mark. Stuffed the sleeves in the sides of shorts and after about 1/4 mile the wind kept blowing the sleeves into my arm swing and messing up my rhythm. Stopped again at about two miles, stuffed sleeves into the back of my shorts, removed the wool socks fr my hands, and then continued forward w/out these crazy distractions! Realized how much it rained as I soaked both shoes continually by the curb of the road crossings. After mile 3 it started to get slippery (and dark) to the point that I slowed the pace down and tried to be ultra careful. As I got back to the greenway added an extra mile started to feel stiff (the cold as I was now running into the cold wind?) -- miles 5 and 6 felt the same in terms of effort
