Time Trial
Goal: 5k in 23 min
Actual: Fail
Could not even make 5k. Goal was to run first mile conservatively (7:24) and then negative split -- at 1k realized that I could not maintain 7:24 pace and had to dial down the pace (mi 1 at 7:27). At 1 mile dialed it back to 7:30 pace & got thru mile 2 and had hopes of just slogging it out. But when I got near 2.5 miles I was sweating like crazy & very uncomfortable where I could not maintain the pace & had to stop (only positive was no debilitating side stitch). Was more depressed after mi 1 w/how slow I was going and if I'm consigned to forever never regaining the fitness/pace fr 2 years ago? Then walked outside and and ran 2 x 1/2 mi at same perceived pace. On #1 started at corner of Sharon & Quail Hollow & ran down Quail Hollow into Elementary School & then up to back & 1.5x around the 220yd track (7:21 pace). Did slow jog around track for 3+ min & then ran ~1/2 mi around the track (7:12 pace). Tried to run these at perceived VO2Max pace, controlling pace & not running too fast.
