Long Run - Progressive

Started out south on the OCA (Old Croton Aqueduct) fr Hastings (very nice area) to Yonkers. Lots of leaves in most sections (hiding the rocks and roots) so I kept things slow being extremely careful of foot falls. As I got to the end of the trail in Yonkers (at 3.8 miles) it was near dusk and did not realize that the end of the trail is in the "hood" in Yonkers (with vagrants and drug dealers including four very sketchy guys who were drinking, two on each side of the trail). Ran to the end, then ran back, past several more sketchy people and back up. As I hit mile 6 it got dark & could not see very well (despite head lamp) so slowed down even further. Got off the southern section of the OCA in mile 8, tried to find Broadway but could not, so circled back to OCA North. First 1/4 mile of fine but after that it was a disaster as I nearly wiped out 4x on large roots I could not see & then stopped & walked (& nearly fell twice walking & hitting roots!). Walked down an extremely steep hill to Broadway. Ran up Broadway/Rt 9 to Ardsley along Hudson (trying to get my legs to go faster). The hills I encountered were unbelievably steep (10-15% grade, 50'-75' & so steep that you had to slow down on descent). At mile 10 decided to work harder & run this progressive (encountered these hills along the final 4 miles except for last mile).
