Cut-Down Run
Goal: 0.7mi (8mi), 1k (7:45), 1/2mi (7:30), 0.4mi (7:20), 0.3mi (7:10), 0.2mi (6:50)
Actual: 3/4mi (8:26), 1k (7:52), 1/2mi (7:18), 0.4mi (7:12), 0.3mi (6:52), 0.2mi (6:33)
Ran this all in/around Phillips Pl. It was difficult to get any sense of pacing until after I ran the 1/2 mi because nothing was where I hoped it was. On #1 I actually forgot to hit Start & realized that 1/2 mi in - the final 1/4 mi was so ridiculously slow (8:26) given that it felt much faster that I was really concerned this set would be a total bust. Ran #2 at the other end of Phillips Pl & was concerned that sometimes on #2 I overcompensate & run things too fast after I'm warmed up so ran this under control & erred on the "faster side" yet again ran this slower vs expected (not terribly slower but disappointingly so). So for the 1/2 mi ran 2.5 loops of cinema lot & ran it stronger & significantly exceeded expectations. At this point I had a really good sense of pace so on the 4/10th mi ran it slightly faster vs the 1/2 mi & paced it perfectly. For the final two ran these stronger and progressed each one - ran the 3/10th mi much faster vs expected & finished strong on the ~300m effort.
