Easy Run (not really -- more like a AT Tempo)

44 degrees, windy. CLT Runners Tue nite run (Booty Loop) - 30 runners. Got there only 5 min late so started to run up on the back of the group just past 1 mile in. Legs felt tired in terms of "lack of spring" but overall felt better than last night. I was very cognizant of not going to hard, so running up Queens shortened stride, and when I turned on Selwyn and saw 10 runners ahead of me from 100 yards to 1/2 mile out really focused on trying to maintain a decent pace (which of course ended up being too fast). As I turned right on to Queens I began to run into a 10-15mph brisk headwind (which got much worse over the final mile). I hit the hill up Queens and throttled down pace as I was about 50 yds behind a group of three and 100 yards a group of four. Quickly passed the group of three and then passed the group of four along Kings at the 4 mile mark. At this point I looked at my pace, 7:26, and immediately slowed it down. The problem was that the lead of the pack of four was this guy in a crew cut, wearing a tidy-whitey t-shirt, running in an extremely uncoordinated manner (looking like he would trip and fall flat on his face at any moment), who was doing his best to stay up w/me (did I add breathing very loudly). I tried to ignore this and gradually pulled away. So about 30 seconds after I finished, I see him coming to the finish, sprinting like a madman, arms flailing, legs going all over the place -- and after he finishes he comes right up to me to say "I tried all I could do to stay up to you" confirming my telekinetic abilities!
