I wanted to see what the difference would be between running all on trails and an actual flat fast road 5k. I guess I found out today. I woke up and was really not feeling well. Wether I am sick or allergies, I am not sure, but I was really congested and not feeling good. The thought even passed my mind to just stay in bed. But I got up and went down to Salem to run a 5k. I was really hoping that no one fast would show up, but instead Jimmy did and I knew there was no gettin him. I decided I was going to give it my best and see if I could run a decent time. The goal was about 17:00 or under. The gun went off and Jim went right to the lead and some other kid was with him. I was in third with Dave Quintal and then I started to pick it up and passed both of them and got into second all alone. That was pretty much the extent of it. I was all alone and just running. I didnt have a watch, I didnt have mile times, so I just kept pushing. I sprinted at the end down the stretch and was shocked to see the high 15's ticking away. I just snuck under 16 and immediately figured the course was off by a little bit. I knew I was running good, but I didnt think that good. I was going to guess around 16:15. Jim went home and google pedomedered it and it was 3.16 and the race did it on Yahoo and it was 3.13. Jim is going to go back out and ride it on his bike later and measure it again. What ever happens I am happy with the day. I was not feeling good at all, I still sucked it up and ran hard and kicked. Jamie also came by just in time to see the finish and that was awesome of her to do as well! I got a medal and a t-shirt. for second place and Jim won 50$. SO close yet so far! He killed me and ran 14:56 or so. Going to have to find a race for next weekend now!
