Leg B-12: Gingell! - When Will the Hills Stop?

In Short: Never ending uphill run – enjoy. The first four miles are a climb and then it rolls to the end.

Scenery: 7; Difficulty: 8-9

Leg B-12: 7.3 miles

Honestly, coming into the weekend, this was the run I was dreading the most. The description had me imagining some big hard climb that I was looking forward to. Like some sort of Dead Indian Run (s/o Paavo West 2012) type leg. But this really didn't end up being all that bad. Had a while to sit at the exchange and wait, but had a big crew so didn't mild all too much. Ran against Kelsey, EmmaB, and Chief. Got the hand-off first again and didn't see any of them.

Went out conservatively in fear/respect for the 4 mile climb. The worst part was around 2.5, when there was probably about a consecutively mile of up. Never really got all that steep though. The course evened out around 3.5 and from there it was rolling, but slightly more down then up. Coming up the last car, the youngins pulled up next to me and played some music for me, which was nice. Started to pick up up the pace here and got moving pretty good. Had it in my head that this leg was 7.0 for some reason, so started to panic as this went "long". Almost tried to hand-off to some rando waiting a quarter mile up the road who kinda looked like Ben. A bit disheartened to realize I still had a bit to go, but rallied and finished strong into the exchange.

Probably could have pushed this a bit harder in all honesty. But that's in hindsight knowing how the route played out. But with one day still to go, I think I gave a good effort here.
