NIRCA Nationals Open 5K
After not really running the last 3 weeks and waking up to cold weather and a tight knee, I decided that I would just try to get through this without hurting my knee too much. Got out okay, but let the lead pack go. Ended up taking a lot of wind on the opening stretch. Caught Ryan around 1K. High-fived and got fired up, but let him go immediately after and watched him run away for the rest of the race. About half way, the lead woman caught me, and I decided I would block some wind for her. Did that for like half a mile, then she surged and I didn't. Got passed by 2 more girls right after. When the 4th place girl caught me, she seemed like she was dying, so I tried to get her to run with me to catch the top 3. She then died and I was content to just jog it in. Did just enough to hold off another hard charging girl and mercifully the race was over.
Saw lots of Illinois people and got some great reactions that made me smile. Really excited/surprised to see Big Sean.
Lots of running around afterwards watching all the other races. Ran harder there than in my own race lol.
