Notes

Another great weekend at GLR in the books. Really glad that I joined the group this year, I know I had some hesitancy when Cobert asked me a few months back because I hadn't really been training consistently. I'm also glad we ended up going after nearly backing out the week before.

Running wise, this was an extremely challenging weekend for me. I ran ~30.6 miles, a lot on the trails, while in an injury cycle and really not having trained seriously in some time. I obviously ran some pretty slow paces compared to what I usually can manage at GLR, but based on where my fitness is, I am actually pretty proud of the effort I put in over these 3 days. I ran solid enough and didn't get lost, and in the end, the team still was top 5 in the Open Division.

Honestly, I'm quite surprised with how my heel held up. At home, even two straight days of easy running seem to set me back, but even running twice a day on hard terrain, it didn't significantly deteriorate. This might have something to do with the consistent moving around all day, while at home I sit most of the day.

I really can't wait to head back out and do this race again. Hopefully next summer, and hopefully in a much better place health and fitness wise to really give it my all. I've been in a real rut with running the past few years, and this weekend was honestly so much fun. I have an interest in actually training again, so hopefully that fire can stay strong while I rest up and get a handle on this nagging heel injury.
