Long run over at Busse Woods. Brought Milner and we met up with Somerfield and Frintner. The elk were out and about, so at least got to see them before we started. Thought the trail wouldn't be too bad despite last night's snow. I was v wrong. The thin layer of snow was in the process of melting, so it was all slush. This made footing extremely slick and difficult. Several times, the ground slipped out from under me and I went sideways and almost took out my friends. At like 5 miles, we had enough, and Frintner led us out of the preserve into the nearby street of EG. With more sturdy footing, the pace became more honest, and the run more enjoyable. We all shared stories of slacking in xc early on in high school. Got back to the parking lot around 10, when Ryan and Frintner called it quits. Milner and I did a 2 mile OnB back on the snowy trail. This was a mistake, the second mile out was miserably snowy and slow. But we eventually made it back and survive.
