Notes

2K @ Threshold, 8 x 1K @ 5K (90")

Didn't have to go into work this morning due to my early afternoon flight, so slept in a bit this morning. Out the door a bit before 8. Took some Run Gum beforehand. Warmed up over to Citizen's through the Marsh. Started my threshold after the bridge, and looped around the park until I hit 2K on my watch. Threshold was pretty slow, though it was mostly into the wind. Gradually increased effort, felt good and warm by the end.

Did the k's on the path that runs along the outside of the park. Did them out n back style, so odd intervals were out and evens were back. The out intervals were definitely tougher, as they finished into the wind. Focused on staying relaxed and consistent in all the reps. This ended up not being as difficult as I expected, and was surprisingly faster than when I did these on the track a few weeks back. Tired by the end, but felt good and strong, probably could have done a few more.

Rolled out back home before heading to the airport.

How helpful is the Run Gum in the morning?

It was mildly helpful I'd say. I've been using it infrequently for about a year now. Mainly for morning workouts where there isn't enough time to sit down and have a cup of coffee before hand. Seems to work well. I had a solid workout, so it definitely didn't hurt. I've tried it for afternoon workouts/races and haven't noticed any different.
