RPE 7-9+. OWS simulation at masters practice. wu 400. Set up 3 buoys. 1st set was to swim around the 3 buoys 4 times. Everyone started at the same time. 1st or second lap I was hit so hard in the eye socket that my googles fall off an I get a slight cut. Later I get hit in the head, scratched, kicked, as well as swallow so much water once that I began to choke and have to tread water until I can breath again. I felt like everyone was doing the fist drill and I was the target. It was like doing 1800m of continuous mass start bc of such a small amount of space and so many swimmers. As I would get passed, I could not find that sweet spot. Guys that I swim faster than while doing lap practice were dropping me. Almost instantly, I found myself out of breath and slowing down substantially in order to regain some sort of composure and reset my relaxation. There was this one time(less than 50m) I found this guys hip and hardly put forth any effort. As if I was gliding. At the turn, I dug in and tryed to find that sweet spot again. But I had to work so hard to attempt to get on his hip again that I had to back off to regain my breath and relax. Very difficult workout for me. I guess this is more of an issue than I thought. And almost forgot to mention that I swim into the wall ..twice.
