Notes

I have a 10k coming up. The course is described as challenging with rolling hills, which has been worrying me, so I decided to check out the course today. Today's recurring thought was, "What? Another hill? Wah." Keep in mind that I usually run on very flat terrain. 2nd most frequent recurring thought, "I'm going to come in last for sure." Other random thoughts, "Is there a walk division? Hmm, I might DNF. Maybe I should just skip the whole thing. I should not have checked this out first, ignorance is bliss." Anyway, I managed to not have to walk any of the hills. I won't say that I actually *ran* the hills but I didn't walk them. Pained shuffling is a more apt description I suppose. I am sure I looked very comical.

The course is 2 loops, a small loop then a bigger loop. Small loop is part of the bigger loop and starts off with a hill. First time going up hill, I thought it was okay. 2nd time, I wanted to cry.

At any rate, I am proud of myself for getting in 6 miles. The other .2 will have to wait for race day. I'm thinking I may have to approach the hills differently and be more attack-y with them, i.e., go up them faster and try to get them over with more quickly. But that might sap my energy more? I don't know.

Morton Arb is a nice place; I should go there more often.
