Notes

QCM Half Marathon. Bib #1136. 10th QCM Half. PR for QCM. Previous best QCM was 2013. Third race of the weekend after Friday's Owl 5k and Saturday's Family 5k.

Start of race: 6*C, 15kph breeze, 97% humidity, extremely foggy. Hands did not warm until around 5km in. Feet were very cold in first 2 miles. First mile right on pace, probably bc I was cold. Expected watch to freak out downtown and not be right while signal bounced off the glass. (No, not running a 4:18 pace on Hamilton.) Legs started to feel like working hard on the out and back on Douglas. Walk breaks to drink/sport beans on even number miles and after mile 7 was drinking on mile markers. Really felt better after running the Wheel Mile. Struggled in last mile, hips and quads were really sore; very much walk-run through last mile.A bit disappointed how much I slowed down, but I think a bit of strength/flexibility work would fix that. Finishing temp 15*C, wind 20kph, humidity 69%.

I didn't fall behind in the splits except in age group in split 2, but made that up later.

Goals going into this race:

Good - Mentally and physically strong. Feel "good" the whole race. Done!

Better - Even pacing. All miles within 15-20 second window. Last mile tough, but outside of that pacing was pretty even.

Best - Sub 2h24. Did not hit this one, likely bc I slowed so much in my last mile, but I still set a longstanding PR for this race.
